"Bees Need Flowers; Planting for Pollinators"
Under development
I've lost count of the number of times beekeepers have told me they are beekeepers; why do they need to know about flowers.
Flowers provide bees with food; carbs through nectar for flight fuel and pollen for baby food. Bees are nature's matchmakers, ensuring that certain plants reproduce through pollination.
Healthy and varied food sources help bees stay strong and healthy. Poor nutrition is among five current stressors impacting honey bees worldwide.
"Bees Need Flowers Planting for Pollinators" will be a handy reference workbook covering how to assess your current property where you plan to locate bees to how to decide what to plant.
As a Certified Master Beekeeper and Master Gardener Emeritus, I help you plan your food sources with handy checklists and guides that make the planning process easier. They also help you provide your bees with food sources to help keep your bees healthy.
This new book will be an excellent reference with my Planting for Pollinators lectures.
"Bees Need Flowers" is part of a three reference book set covering fundamental beekeeping related topics. The other two books are "Bee Club Basics or How to Start a Bee Club" 2nd Edition published 2022, and "A Beekeeper's Diary, Self-Guide to Keeping Bees 2nd Edition published December 2021. Both are available autographed from Bluebird Gardens.
Email me to be notified when "Bees Need Flowers" is available.
